The Conqueror of Shamballa is the second movie in the Fullmetal Alchemist series, with a very loose adaptation of the 1991 manga storyline. Since it was not released in theaters outside Japan, it is often labeled as "the lost movie". Awakening from a terrible nightmare only to find himself back at his alchemy lab table and though he knows his own name and who he is, Edward Elric cannot remember anything else. As time goes on and he realizes that this strange place - Resembool - is where he spent many happy years as a child with his brother Alphonse, memories begin to return to him. He remembers the terrible accident, losing his arm and leg, his brother's sacrifice to give him his automail limbs. But all is not as it seems. Resembool is more of a ghost town than the bustling village of Ed's memories. Ed does remember that Winry was his childhood friend and she is, but something is wrong there as well. Alphonse is still alive but he doesn't have his soul bound to a suit of armor anymore - he has become human again with no memory of how this happened or anything else about his past life. Ed decides to travel to Central City so he can talk to Al's old teacher, Izumi Curtis, who may know something about what's going on. While in Central City, Ed meets up with Izumi Curtis, an older woman who promises to help him figure out what happened to his brother. Since Al is now in Resembool in the same condition he was in when they last met, they board a train to get to Resembool's train station. When they're there, Ed demands that someone there look after Al since no one seemed to know anything about his brother's bizarre condition. Just then Al appears behind Ed with the same weird golden orb-like thing he had on when they last saw him in Resembool. Izumi explains this is called Amestrian Technology - Soul Binding which allows them to "switch" between Soul Alchemical forms but without their body. Soul Alchemical transmutation is the process of splitting the soul apart from the body and binding it to an object. Both forms are sentient, but the soul is suppressed in one form while it's in use. Soul Alchemists can use this ability to switch between two forms to manipulate their own shape. Izumi says someone was stealing the souls of people in Resembool, which could explain where Al's soul has gone. They decide they need to track down this person, but before they leave town someone steals Ed's Fullmetal Alchemist pocket watch, his only possession aside from his brother before he became human again. The next morning Ed and Al head out to Resembool to investigate, but Izumi suggests they take a train from Central City instead. They arrive in the town just as a strange man with a large number of alchemical rods strapped on his back steps out of a room, then he throws a glass container with what looks like red-orange gel inside. Izumi recognizes it as erythrite erythite erythrite, also known as 'Princess PEARL', which is an extremely potent soul alchemical material that's extremely hard to acquire - only the most powerful Fullmetal Alchemist is able to make it. cfa1e77820
